In 2007, the United Nations determined to dedicate the day of April 2nd to „World Autism Awareness Day“. This year, Autism Europe launched a campaign around the theme „A happy journey through life“. The motto of the World Autism Awareness day is intentionally formulated quite openly. This should reflect the facets of Autism and how people experience it, but also the distinct opinion on what „a happy journey“ in different life phases needs to involve. Aim of this specific day is to make people aware of the topic, encourage dialogue and provide necessary supports to guarantee a satisfied and successful life for people with Autism and their families. On the occasion of the World Autism Awareness Day, Autism Europe collected and shared testimonies of autistic people and their families, promoted the artistic point of view of people with autism and shared key policy messages.
